1911 Gertrude Watt was born in Bienfait, Saskatchewan.
1917 Entered grade school.
1928 Graduated high school.
1928 Gertrude's mother, Gertrude Watt, died.
1932 Graduated nursing school.
1932-36 Worked as a nurse in Bienfait, SK and Winnipeg,
MB.
1936 Moved to Vancouver from Saskatchewan.
1937 Came to Quesnel via BC Rail on New Year's Day
to work as a nurse with her cousin, Dr. Darwin Oliver.
1937 Was named Matron of the Quesnel Hospital.
193? Gertrude and Mr. Seymour, building maintenance
man and jack of all trades, built the first incubator for a premature
newborn in the Quesnel Hospital.
1938 Met Alex Fraser.
1940 Married Alex Fraser.
1949 Alex Fraser elected Councillor of the District
of Quesnel.
1957 Adopted daughter Bonnie Joy Fraser.
1958 Princess Margaret visits Quesnel and meets the
Frasers and other officials.
1959 Welcomed foster daughter Louise Cameron into
her home.
1964 Elected Vice President of the Ladies' Hospital
Auxiliary.
1965 Assumed Presidency of the Ladies' Hospital Auxiliary.
1969 Alex Fraser elected MLA for the Cariboo.
1976 Alex Fraser named Minister of Transportation
and Highways.
1977 Alex and Gertrude move to Victoria.
1986 Alex Fraser Bridge dedicated in Vancouver.
1989 Alex and Gertrude move back to Quesnel for Alex's
hospice care in his final months.
1989 Alex Fraser passed away May 9th.
1993 Grandson Alex Gavin joins the family.
2001 - 2002 Gertrude works with author Nancy Lilienweiss to record
and present her life story for the Living Landscapes project.
2003 Gertrude Fraser dies on February 17.
