Quesnel Secondary Consortium
Lori FogartyLori is the boss. Really, that is all that needs to be said because she is a good boss, always on top of the situation, always encouraging and helpful, and always making sure the jobs get done. Lori teaches Home Economics at QSS and runs the Tourism Career Preparation program in association with the Canadian Academy of Tourism. Her tourism program has been responsible for running Cottonwood Historic Site for two years now and we hope to keep up the tradition. Ed ColemanEd is Quesnel School District Career Preparation coordinator and is reponsible for a wide range of productive initiatives within the community including the Cottonwood project. He is crucial to the success of the project and continues to provide guidance and support. Fred HarderFred is our key heritage consultant with a wide experience in all aspects of pioneer farming and pioneer life. This summer he is on site at Cottonwood Historic Site providing commentary, wagon rides and farming demonstrations. His knowledge, interest and research have been crucial to the success of the project. Lynda AtkinsonLynda is the Vice Principal at QSS and has provided crucial political and emotional support to the project. She is superb at getting ahold of resources and keeping people working. She has been a big supporter of the Tourism program at QSS and as a long time Cariboo rancher, farmer and horse breeder has a great deal of knowledge to share. Rose EklundRose is the official photographer for the project and an important source for pioneer life information. Born on a farm in southern Alberta she has personal knowledge of horse farming the land and has a long time interest in horses. As a Cariboo rancher and farmer she is keenly interested in the success of Cottonwood. Bill AtkinsonBill has a longstanding connection to Cottonwood House and the Boyd family history through continuing work with the Quesnel and District Museum and Archives. He has been the primary researcher in both the Barkerville and Quesnel archives. He is also the web page designer and developer of this site. Quesnel Musuem and ArchivesWith Ruth Stubbs as the curator the museum has
been actively working on the cutting edge of placing museums on
the internet. The Cottonwood project has been significantly enriched
by the artifacts, archives and photos available from the museum.
Jake Van der MerweJake is the B.C. Heritage Director of parks for all parks from Kamloops north, responsible for a wide number of sites but choses to live at Cotonwood. He has provided crucial support and interest for the Cottonwood project allowing us to move ahead faster than we had even hoped. Bill QuackenbushBill is the manager of the Barkerville Historic Site and a very important provider of information, support and guidance. His historical and archaelogical knowledge have been shared unhesitatingly and he has been most gracious in allowing access to the Barkerville archives for some of our basic research. Keven BrickwoodAs the manager of the Barkerville Education program Kevin has been the most involved in the day to day operation of the Cottonwood project and has been a crucial supporter. Without Kevin we would be in trouble all the time. Most important Kevin promotes and shares with us a vision of the Cottonwood Historic Site that looks towards a time when the site will be a two or three day destination site not just a quick stop on the way to Barkerville.
