This newer sulky plow has all the levers and controls that have been lost on the older plow. During transport the plow bottom would be off the ground but when finally in the field and ready to work the lever would be lowered and the whole plow would settle into work.
This clearly shows the full modern plow design including the rolling coulter (the round cutting disc in front of the plow). The coulter provides an initial cut of sod in order to make the work of the plow easier. |
