The Ladies' Auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Penticton Lodge No. 813 was established in 1928. It changed its name to the Ladies' Auxiliary to the United Transportation Union, Penticton Lodge No. 813, in 1970. This women's club, a support group for the railroad trainmen, assisted in fund raising and social activities such as dances. They also assisted needy auxiliary members, and fund raised after funerals of trainmen. Although the Penticton local of the United Transportation Union ceased to exist ca. 1976, its Ladies' Auxiliary still functions and fund raises for various charities. The Ladies' Auxiliary was affiliated with: the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Penticton Lodge No. 914, established 1928- ca. 1970, and the United Transportation Union, Local 1341 of Penticton, established ca. 1970 - ca. 1976. The latter merged with Local 691 of Kamloops. |
