Projectile Points (n=8)

Eight projectile points were recovered in the excavations.  These vary in shape and have been divide into three types.  Type 1 are small triangular shaped side notched points, Type 2 and small triangular shaped corner notched points, and Type 3 are small un-notched points.  These were found at a variety of Levels: Level 1 (n=1), Level 4 (n=2), Level  5/6 (n=1), Level 6 (n=2), Level 11 (n=1) and surface (n=1). These are described below:

Type 1:  Side notched points (n=3)

EdQa 121-267  (8n0) Level 1 (0-5 cm)  (Figure 13) Complete triangular shaped point with straight sides, small side notches, rectangular basal corners, slightly convex base.  Top of the World Chert.  max. length:  l9.6 mm, max.. width: 13.3 mm; max. thickness: 3.0 mm; depth of notches: 1.9, 2.4 mm; neck width: 9.2 mm;  base height: 3.7, 4.8 mm; mass 0.7 g.

EdQa 121-71 (XU1) Level 4 (15-20 cm) (Figure 13) Triangular shaped points with convex sides, incomplete, missing tip and one notch, small side notch, rectangular  basal corners, straight or slightly concave base. black grainy chert. max. length:  n/a, max. width: n/a; max. thickness: 2.9 mm; depth of notches: 2.2 mm; neck width: n/a; base height:  3.5 mm; mass 0.4 g.

EdQa 121-265 (8n0) Level 11 (50-55 cm) (Figure 13) Triangular shaped point with straight sides, incomplete-missing tip, small side notches, rounded basal corners, straight base, Top of the World Chert. max. length:  n/a, max. width: 9.9 mm; max. thickness: 2.5 mm; depth of notches: 2.8, 2.2 mm; neck width: 5.4 mm; base height:  2.7,2.5 mm; mass 0.4 g.

Type 2: Corner notched points (n=1)

EdQa 121-266 (5n0) Level 5/6 (20-30 cm) (Figure 13) Triangular shaped point with straight sides, incomplete-missing one shoulder, pronounced corner notching, base straight, Black chert. max. length:  19.8 mm; max. width: 14.7 mm; max. thickness: 3.7 mm; depth of notches: 4.6 mm; neck width: 6.9 mm; base height: 3.8 mm; mass 0.7 g.

Type 3:  Un-notched points (n=3)

EdQa 121-17 (XU1) Level 4 (15-20 cm) (Figure 13) Rectangular base portion, straight sides, missing tip, no notching, slightly convex base, Top of the World Chert. max. length:  n/a, max. width: 12.9 mm; max. thickness: 3.9 mm; mass 0.8 g.

EdQa 121- 269 (6n0) Level 6 (25-30)(Figure 13) Rectangular base portion, convex sides, missing tip, no notching, straight base, Top of the World Chert. max. length:  n/a, max. width: 13.4 mm; max. thickness: 2.4 mm; mass 0.6g.

EdQa 121-272 surface (Figure 13) Triangular shaped point with contracting basal portion, complete, no notching, straight base, Black grainy chert. max. length: 24.5 mm, max. width: 15.6 mm; max. thickness: 3.0 mm; mass 0.9 g.

Other (n=1)
