Archaeological Investigations at the Salmon Beds 

 

Hammerstones (n=2)

Two hammerstones have marks indicating these stones were used as hammers.

EdQa 121-131 (0n5w) L5 (20-25 cm) (Figure 17)  A small oval sandstone cobble has been utilized as a hammerstone as is indicated by battering marks along two portions of the edge. max. length 71.5 mm; max. width 64.2 mm; max. thickness 38.4 mm;

EdQa 121-229 (2n26e) L3 (10-15 cm) (Figure 17)  A small, oval, black siltstone cobble has been utilized as a hammerstone as indicated by the removal of flakes bifacially from one end. max. length 71.9 mm; max. width 34.3 mm; max. thickness 29.5 mm.
