The Breckenridge Family The Breckenridge family left Oregon and settled in Remo in 1908. They located a pre-emption lot on the south side of the Skeena directly across the river from Bateman's Landing. The only substantial possessions they brought was a large canvas tent that they lived in while building their log cabin and a piano which soon became the center of the community entertainment. The piano had to be transported across the river on a deck straddling two canoes. Mr. Breckenridge became the first Postmaster in Remo in 1909. |
