Enallagma clausum (Alkali Bluet)

Description: Male's appendages, fig. 4d. All or most of female's segment 8 is pale. Length: male 35 mm, female 34 mm.
Global Range: British Columbia east to Quebec, south to Kansas, New Mexico and California (Westfall and May 1996). Faunal element: Austral (see Appendix 2).
BC Distribution: Scattered localities in BC's Thompson-Okanagan region north to the Chilcotin region. In Northern BC, recorded at only two localities at the extreme southern border of the study area (52ºN).
Biology: Uncommon, except in particular locations that meet its habitat requirements. Prefers saline ponds and lakes in grasslands and dry forests (Wm05-07; Gs01-03)
BC flight period: late May to early September; mainly late June to mid August.
