Leucorrhinia Brittinger
Leucorrhinia species are small, black, white-faced dragonflies
usually marked with red in males and yellow (or sometimes red) in
females. Four of the five Columbia Basin species are boreal and
are most prevalent in the mountains or in the north around the marshy
shores of lakes in the late spring or early summer. L. intacta
is the anomaly in the genus, preferring cattail marshes in warm
valley bottoms.
