Archaeological Investigations at the Salmon Beds

Results

Eighteen (n=18) square meters were excavated at the site.  Seven 1x1 metre tests were located along the erosional cutbank of the river and near the centre of a low terrace.   Based on the results of these tests, two small block excavations were conducted in areas with higher cultural material returns.  One of these was located adjacent to the river erosion cut, while the second was located close to a small stream channel.  Cultural features were confined to irregular clusters of fire broken rock (Figure 10) and small concentrations of charcoal.  No cooking pits or other features were encountered.
