Northern Leopard Frog
This once common amphibian has now essentially disappeared from Western North America. Efforts are being launched to locate remnant populations in the East Kootenays.

Distinguishing features:

Green color
Large dark round spots with light halo
 
 

 

 

Spotted Frog:
dark color
irregular
dark spots

 

Pacific Chorus Frog:
small <2" or 5cm
dark mask with green or white body


Western Toad:
white line down center of the back 

Compare with these other more common amphibians.
