The West Kootenay Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diversity Group, through an exploration of ways to incorporate Doukhobor values and culture in early childhood and elementary education, have created a resource package which includes; teacher preparatory material, lesson plans and student activities. The ongoing goals for the ECE Group, as educators, include; violence prevention, anti-racism education and global or intercultural education. This resource package, developed through an inventory of existing curriculum resources on Doukhobor history and culture in the Columbia region and professional development workshops for educators, includes three books published for children and families, a CD of Songs, Rhymes and Stories as well as other resources for the classroom. The packages are available to schools, childcare resource and referral services, teacher education and professional development programs, daycare, community groups and for the World Wide Web.
